I’ve been reading lots of amazing blogger posts about Autumn recently. Despite that, I can’t believe I’m writing my October goals post already! Where did September go? I’m pretty happy that I made good on my September goals and I want to keep that momentum going with some more (hopefully!) achievable goals for this month.
Blogging
I’m feeling really confident and happy about my blog now. Last month I realised it was OK to be a niche-less lifestyle blogger, writing about the things that I love. Because if I keep doing that, I’ll never run out of content ideas either. And now I’ve even got myself a planner [shocked face] so I know when to publish, and in what order. Let’s see if I can stick to this!
Freelancing
I’ve been going to some networking meetings recently and I’ve had some really good feedback, and some fantastic advice. Mainly about not underselling myself and my skills and experience. I know I’m generalising here, but why is it that men don’t seem to be afflicted by self-doubt when going for opportunities, but women will nearly always doubt their suitability? My new mantra is: she told herself she could, so she decided to at least try.
Hallowe’en
Reading Jenny in Neverland‘s inspirational post about things to do in Autumn (click here to check it out) reminded me how exciting Hallowe’en is now we see it through Flora’s eyes. Pumpkin carving, trick or treating, decorating the house, it all takes on a real meaning and joy because she loves it so much. Last year we carved our pumpkin as a cat, which we’ll probably do again this year. And we’ll definitely avoid the house that served up chocolate-covered sprouts instead of sweets when we go trick or treating in a few weeks time!

So, these are my October goals. Plus, of course, going for lots of lovely Autumn walks and kicking up all the leaves. Can you even call it a proper Autumn walk if you don’t scatter lots of leaf piles? And 1st October marked my wedding anniversary: we’ve been married for 14 years and together for 25. Apparently 14 years is categorised as ivory, which is obviously a no-no, so I’m going to choose silver to mark our 25 years together – time to go shopping then 🙂
What are your October goals? Have you got any plans for Hallowe’en?
What are your favourite things to do in Autumn?

Awh what a lovely surprise to start reading and find one of my posts has been tagged haha! Thank you (: these are great goals; I hope Halloween is fun for you this year! I don’t really have any goals myself – September was so hectic I think I just need to sit back and relax a bit this month and see where it takes me (: xx
You’re welcome, I loved your post, it was so full of good ideas! Yes, we’re really looking forward to Hallowe’en this year, I’m going all out on the decorating front and buying pumpkins to pop around the house for Autumnal colour. Sounds like you should just chill out with some snuggly blankets and hot chocolate then 🙂 xx
I love your goals for this month! I really need to get my hands on a blog planner, I’m so unorganised when it comes to planning and scheduling! Hope you have a great month and enjoy celebrating your wedding anniversary! x
When I say I’ve got a planner, what I really mean is I’ve written a note in my diary as to what post I’d like to publish and when. Planner is probably stretching it TBH! Thank you for the anniversary wishes, X
Hope you have a fabulous October! My main goal is to have at least a couple of my blogmas posts scheduled by the end- but I’ll settle for just getting all my ideas for it finalised seeing as that’s so ambitious ?

Blogmas? Wow, you are way ahead of me in the organisation stakes! I do have a guest Blogmas post to write but I haven’t started thinking about that yet, maybe I’d better get a move on. I do admire all bloggers who do Blogtober and Blogmas, I just couldn’t organise myself that well! X
I loved this post and definitely will be following your blog from now on. I loved your goals and I think I really need to follow suit especially to have a planner for my posts!
Ah, thank you, that’s really kind! I have to admit that my “planner” is really only notes in my diary but baby steps, haha! X
I’m genuinely perplexed that anyone thought up chocolate covered sprouts, much less decided to hand them out! Best of luck with not second-guessing yourself — I think the idea of seeing the things you feel your should try as a promise to yourself is a great approach. Someone told me that men apply for a job when they have something like 30% of the qualifications, but women wait till they hit like 70%. There’s no reason we can’t do what the guys do!

They melted the chocolate, covered some raw sprouts, and then wrapped them up again in Ferrero Rocher foil – WAY too much time on their hands! Poor Flora, she was so upset, we had to stuff her full of chocolate to make her smile again 🙂 And I heard that us girls wait until we hit 95% to apply for a job, which is so crazy. #timeforachange X
It’s good to hear you’re happy with your blog at the moment, it’s looking great!

My October goals – https://afababulouslife.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/september-round-up-october-goals.html
Oh, thank you! I’m lucky to have had a lovely header made for me that, so far, I can “seasonalise” (is that even a word?!) myself, and I’m feeling a lot more settled now I have a plan of sorts! X
These are some great goals! I don’t really have any goals or any plans for October, I guess its mainly just to crack on with my college work and try and get as far ahead as I possibly can before my schedule gets super hectic from all the Christmas activities!

Thank you! I don’t even want to think about Christmas, we haven’t had Hallowe’en or Bonfire Night yet 🙂 Good luck with your college work, I hope you achieve everything you want to! X
I’m loving your goals! I’m still a bit concerned that I should have some sort of niche but you’re right, writing about whatever you’d like is so much more freeing and interesting! I also really love that you’re working on not underselling yourself. I read an article that said men will apply for jobs when they hold just 60% of the requirements, but women won’t apply unless they have 100%. It’s so hard to feel we are good enough but you are!
Sounds like Halloween will be lots of fun for you, too. Hope you enjoy October!
Beth x
Thank you!!! I think we should write about whatever we want to write about. I know a lot of bloggers do have niches and they are brilliant at what they do but I just like writing about different things. The not underselling bit is going to take a bit longer though, I think, haha! X
Oh no chocolate covered sprouts, what a flipping awful trick! They need to be taken to the Halloween ombudsman! 😀
I don’t really have any specific goals, other than try and keep plodding along! I feel like the little engine chugging up the hill in that book!
I know, poor Flora! My goals are fairly fluid, I just like to have something to aim for each month – whether I achieve them is always another matter though … I’ll have to call you Ivor from now on then! X
Chocolate covered sprouts?! What fresh hell is that?!
Good luck with the freelancing. I always admire people striving out on their own and good feedback shows you’re doing well!
I think those chocolate covered sprouts are passing into legend now, haha! Thank you for the good wishes on the freelance front, so far so good, fingers crossed it stays that way! X
