PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device

PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device – review *

16th October 2019      Lisa      134 Comments

AD – GIFTED | Many years ago I trained as a Beauty Specialist, and learned a LOT about the natural beauty of clean, glowing skin.  And recently I experienced this myself with the fabulous PMD Clean Smart Facial Cleansing Device.  Well, no prizes for guessing my reaction when I was offered the upgraded PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device * to try out.  No word of a lie, I was actually squeaking with excitement when I got the email.  I may or may not have even done a little happy dance (!)  Anyway, I’ve been using it for a month now, so how does the PRO compare?

PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device

Like my original PMD Clean, the PMD Clean PRO works by deep level cleansing to leave your skin dirt and makeup free.  And it also helps with anti-ageing by simultaneously encouraging collagen production, for a more youthful complexion.  I honestly didn’t think I could love any facial cleansing device more than my original PMD Clean, but it turns out that yes, yes I really can.

How does the magic work?  It still harnesses PMD’s SonicGlowTM technology, which uses over 7,000 vibrations per minute to break down the dirt and oil from deep within the pores.  This helps to reduce the formation of spots and blackheads, and leaves skin looking clearer.  But the PRO also combines SonicGlow™ with a heating element, which allows deeper absorption and effectiveness of your skincare.  Plus, as an added bonus, my version also uses Rose Quartz, a known aid in reducing inflammation and tension.

PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device

The PMD Clean PRO is one of a range of beauty devices including the brand’s best-selling device, the award-winning PMD Personal Microderm*, the PMD Personal Microderm PRO*, the PMD Kiss*, the PMD Wave Pro*, the PMD Clean*, and now the PMD Clean PRO*.  The standard PRO comes in four colours: Navy, Teal, Berry, or White.  And my version, the PMD Clean PRO RQ with Rose Quartz comes in a beautiful blush pink.

How to use the PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device

The ergonomically designed device has four different vibration settings, so you can choose which intensity feels right for your skin.  The first two are for cleansing, the second two are for massaging in your moisturiser or serums.  And there’s also a setting for the heating element, which I’ll come onto in a bit.

Cleansing

Settings one and two offer constant vibration and are recommended for the best cleansing results.  The silicon brush bristles are super gentle and suitable for all skin types, so you can easily use the facial cleansing device twice a day.  As silicon is hygienic, anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic, and waterproof, there’s no danger of any dirt or infection being transferred to the bristles and from then onto your skin.

PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device

My previous experience with the PMD Clean taught me that the best way to use this facial cleansing device is as follows.  Rinse your face with warm water and then apply your chosen cleanser.  Wet the PMD Clean PRO and massage the brush head in circular motions over your face for as long or short a time as you wish.  When done, simply rinse both your face and the device, pat your face dry, and leave the PMD Clean PRO to air dry.  My favourite tip to use my new TRUE Skincare cleansing oil first, followed by my Origins foaming cleanser for a double cleanse and really refreshed skin.

Massaging and Rose Quartz

Unlike the PMD Clean and its ridged side, the back of the PRO brush head has a smooth Rose Quartz plate.  The two pulse settings are still there and they’ll massage serums and moisturisers into your skin.  The slower, intermittent vibrations help to lift, firm and tone your skin by stimulating blood flow and collagen production.  Basically, they help your product(s) penetrate more deeply for greater effectiveness.  My PMD Clean PRO performs happily with all my facial oils, serums, and night creams.

PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device

So why the Rose Quartz plate?  Well, many crystals hold healing energies, which can relax, soothe and rejuvenate.  My daughter, Flora, has an ever growing collection of crystals (including three Rose Quartz stones) and whenever we handle or play with them I can feel myself slowing down.  That probably sounds a little weird and I’m digressing, BUT Rose Quartz has long been used in beauty treatments to help promote lymphatic drainage, reduce puffiness, and eliminate toxins.  So using the Rose Quartz plate to smooth outwards (always outwards, never inwards, you want to roll those wrinkles away) is the perfect end to your skincare routine.

Heating

The heating element is SUCH a treat.  I’ve not used it every day because I don’t want to contradict the cooling effect of the Rose Quartz.  But I have combined it with the gentler vibration setting after cleansing.  Have you ever had a steam facial or a hot towel applied to your face?  This is what the PMD Clean PRO* feels like.  It’s a very gentle heat that works in conjunction with the massaging action to really treat your skin.  Like having a professional face massage in the comfort of your own home.

Other benefits of the PMD Clean PRO

As I was already using my PMD Clean*, I didn’t experience such a profound change in my skin’s appearance this time.  (Previously, I was quite shocked at how clear, clean, and healthy it looked after only a couple of weeks).  My pores are still clean, look smaller, and I don’t have any blackheads on my nose, which is pretty amazing.  And my skin positively glows after each use.

PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device

I mentioned in my previous review that an unexpected benefit was that the vibration and massage actions work wonders on blocked sinuses.  Well another benefit to the heating element is that when I have a tension headache, the soothing warmth applied to my temples and across my forehead feels extremely welcome.

I’m not sure if I prefer the battery operated original PMD Clean or this rechargeable PRO.  But they’re both so easy to use and so portable too.  The PRO facial cleansing device comes with its own charging cord and case.  I found that using it twice a day meant the charge lasted around 10-14 days but it only takes a couple of hours to recharge so it’s really not an issue.

Is the PMD Clean PRO worth it?

The PMD Clean PRO Smart Facial Cleansing Device comes with charging cord, a storage case, a one year warranty – see the latest pricing for the PMD Clean PRO on Amazon*.  While it’s more costly than the original, the upgrade incorporates the heating and Rose Quartz elements as well.  Which, if you had to purchase them all separately, would cost a great deal more.  I believe the PMD Clean PRO is a great investment, and I’m a firm believer in investing in my skin, which I wear every day.  To borrow a phrase from another beauty company, I’m worth it.

And in case you’re wondering what’s happened to my original PMD Clean*?  I’ve passed it on to Flora.  Yes, she’s only nine (well, nearly ten, eeeek) but you can never start taking care of your skin too early.  She LOVES using it and if it helps her once she hits puberty and the hormones start playing havoc with her skin, then I think that’s definitely a win.  And a huge tick in the box for smart skincare in the future, wouldn’t you say?

PMD-Clean-PRO-amazon

Have you used a facial cleansing device before?  If you have, which brand did you try?  If you haven’t, do you think the benefits of the PMD Clean PRO could persuade you to try one now?

Hi! I just got a PMD Clean and wanted to ask what did you use the ridged back for? And on the Pro, did you actually put the serums/oils on the rose quartz side or did you only use it for the heat (without putting product on it)? Thanks so much!

Oh congrats, they’re fab devices! So, for the original PMD Clean, I applied the creams to my skin and then massaged my face with the ridged side. As for the Pro, I put the products on my skin first and then used the heated element to massage them in. Hope that helps!

I’ve always wanted to try one of these facial devices but there are so many choices out there, I don’t even know when to start! You’ve made me think about this brand and I’ll definitely be looking into the device. It sounds like it’s definitely a good investment and a great way to get some self care into your routine. I know what you mean about the wide choice but this brand has some amazing products. And I do think it’s well worth investing in our skin – for the price of a coat that we certainly won’t wear every day, unlike our faces! 🙂

I love my PMD and have seen such a huge improvement when I use it – I actually haven’t used it for a couple of days as I’ve been seriously slacking with my skincare and you can really notice it in my skin. This one sounds NEXT LEVEL amazing though. I love the rose quartz elements – I have a rose quartz and a book about crystals so I’m aware of what this particular one does and it’s amazing that it’s been introduced into such a high-tech skincare product! Great review, Lisa! x

That’s amazing that you’re a trained Beauty Specialist, that means you 100% know everything that’s great to have glowing skin. I currently just use a standard cleanser, but I’ve heard of such great things of these facial cleansing devices to truly cleanse the face completely. That’s so cool that there’s also a way for it to massage serums and moisturizers onto your face, seems like they thought of everything. I’m going to have to look into this, I’ve been meaning to improve my skincare!

I am looking for one to help with keeping my pores clearing and this sounds like from your experience it does! I just find using a cleansing cloth or a flannel isn’t enough, I want to make sure that my face is being cleansed throughly. I may have to check this brand out more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and the features. You have also taken some beautiful photographs (as usual 😉) Lauren ❤️Xxx

Your review is helpful. I bought one and it doesn’t come with a lot of instructions. These days products guide you to online videos. I didn’t realize the quartz side is meant to be used while the device is vibrating. I was have a finicky time turning just that side on. NOW I get it. I’ve been using for a few weeks and am seeing some improvement. Actually had a few blemishes arise. I believe because the device is cleaning out my pores. The quartz side does a nice job of massaging serums into my skin. Overall I was happy with the purchase, and am happier now that I understand it better!

Hi Peg, thank you so much, I’m very pleased my review was helpful. And I’m delighted to hear you’re getting on so well with the PMD – as you say, it cleans everything out thoroughly first, so that’s why you might see a few more blemishes initially. Glad you’re loving the quartz now, it’s such a wonderful extra element to a really good facial cleansing device – thank you for your comment!
