7 Tips to Help You Make The Most of Your Weekend In Idaho Springs

Before diving into your itinerary, here are a few pointers to bear in mind so you can fully enjoy your getaway. Pack layers, as mountain weather can change quickly, and bring comfortable shoes for exploring both the trails and the historic downtown streets.

Plan your activities with a balance of adventure and relaxation so you don’t feel rushed, and don’t forget to stay hydrated – especially if you’re not used to the higher elevation. This way, you’ll be set to make the most of your weekend in Idaho Springs.

Arrive and Settle In

Begin your weekend by checking into your accommodations. Idaho Springs offers a variety of lodging options, from cozy bed and breakfasts to rustic cabins and modern hotels. Take some time to unpack, freshen up, and get ready for an exciting weekend ahead.

Explore the Town’s History

Start your exploration of Idaho Springs by delving into its rich mining history. Visit the Argo Gold Mine and Mill, where you can tour the historic mine and learn about the town’s gold rush era. Don’t miss the opportunity to pan for gold and keep any treasures you find!

Indulge in Local Cuisine

Idaho Springs is known for its diverse dining scene. From casual cafes to upscale restaurants, there’s something to satisfy every palate. Be sure to try some of the local specialties, such as the famous Idaho Springs pizza or the delectable trout dishes. End your evening with a visit to one of the town’s craft breweries or distilleries for a taste of locally made beverages.

Embark on Outdoor Adventures

No weekend in Idaho Springs is complete without experiencing the great outdoors. Spend your Saturday hiking or biking on one of the many scenic trails in the area. The St. Mary’s Glacier hike is a popular choice, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and a picturesque lake at the top.

For a more thrilling adventure, try white water rafting on Clear Creek. The rapids range from mild to wild, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced rafters. If you prefer a more leisurely activity, take a scenic drive along the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, the highest paved road in North America.

Relax and Rejuvenate

After a day of outdoor adventures, take some time to relax and unwind. Visit the Indian Hot Springs, where you can soak in the mineral-rich waters and let your aches melt away. Book a massage or spa treatment to further pamper yourself and rejuvenate your mind and body.

Shop and Dine

Spend your Sunday morning exploring the charming shops and galleries in downtown Idaho Springs. Browse through unique boutiques, antique stores, and art galleries, and pick up some souvenirs to remember your weekend getaway.

For lunch, grab a bite at one of the town’s delightful cafes or sandwich shops. Don’t forget to indulge in a sweet treat from one of the local bakeries or ice cream parlors.

Bid Farewell

As your perfect weekend in Idaho Springs comes to an end, take a moment to reflect on the memories you’ve made. Whether you’ve conquered the rapids, discovered hidden gems, or simply relaxed in the tranquil surroundings, Idaho Springs has something for everyone.

Before you leave, take one last stroll through the picturesque streets and snap a few photos to capture the essence of this lovely mountain town. With a host of wonderful memories, you know you’ll be back, as you bid farewell to Idaho Springs until your next adventure!

🌈 Our beloved hobo has taken his last journey. Yes 🌈 Our beloved hobo has taken his last journey. Yesterday evening we had to say farewell to Ginger at nearly 21 years old.

13 years ago he wandered into our greenhouse and decided ours was his new home. So many memories:

😻 He saw us through Buzz, Lily, and Jester, and the arrivals of Spooky, Loki, and Lyra.
😻 Always the most chilled cat, not interested in fighting any other cats, ours or visitors.
😻 Greediest cat ever, not even willing to share with the resident hedgehogs. He could hear the sound of someone walking into the kitchen from 5 miles away.
😻 An inveterate bin diver – our neighbours got used to seeing their recycling spread across the road after he’d gone searching for food.
😻 Always commandeering the warmest spot in the garden or house.
😻 Putting up with Spooky always seeking him out and snuggling up with him.
😻Somehow generating more heat than a volcano, so we could never tolerate him on our laps for more than 10 minutes, we’d have to move him next to us instead.
😻 Always knowing when any of us needed comfort or company and snuggling up to offer purring support.

RIP, Ginger, thank you for choosing us, we were privileged to have you as part of our family, and you leave the biggest hole in all our hearts. 😿

If you don’t have any of these perennials in your outside space, you’re missing a trick.

Happy in pots, baskets, and the ground, ours have survived frost, snow and can’t be beaten for fabulously cheerful pops of colour at this time of year. Highly recommended! 👌
