September goals 2017

September goals.  Wow, I cannot believe how fast the last five weeks have flown by.  And now we’re officially into Autumn.  My main August goal was to spend as much time as possible with my family.  If you follow me on Instagram 🙂 you’ll know I was lucky enough to achieve that, we had a ball. So, what about my goals for this month?

Harvest time

September is my time to make all things apple with the fruit from our orchard. Apple pie, apple crumble, apple sauce, apple juice.  We have tried to make cider but no joy so far, although the juice is absolutely delicious.  My neighbour has a damson tree so I’ll be making damson jam and damson gin this month as well.  And of course there’s blackberry jam to be made as the berries ripen on all the hedges around us too.

I’m absolutely loving my new freelance life, and I want to find some more work this month. Freelancing, by its very nature, is rather unpredictable, but the freedom to work with people I like and respect, when it’s mutually convenient, and to be free for Flora is something I’d hate to swap now.

I’ve not been blogging for very long (nearly seven months) and much as I’ve been loving it, I feel it’s taken me a while to find my feet.  I don’t have a niche as such, I like to write about all sorts of things.  So it’s been hard to promote myself and explain what it is I do.  But now I feel I’ve found a core set of topics I want to blog about. So each month I’m aiming to write a goals post, a gardening post, a beauty post, a books post, and one or two other posts about anything that takes my fancy.  So I’ll be blogging on what I want to write about and hopefully there’ll be something for everyone who reads my blog too.  Although, if there’s anything you’d like to see me cover, please do get in touch, I’m very open to suggestions!

This is another fairly short post because I want to make the most of what’s left of Flora’s summer holidays before she goes back to school.  I’m going to really miss her, we’ve had so much fun, particularly throughout August.  But the upside is that Alan and I might get to spend some time together for a change!

What are your September goals? Are you glad or sad Autumn is here now? Do let me know.

YASSS I love a good goals post! You have an orchard? That’s amazing! I love apple pie too, it’s beaut. I can’t believe it’s September already either although I’m kinda glad because I hate summer so I know it’s finally coming to an end now. But still, it’s not right how quickly this year has gone so far. Good luck on your goals for the month! I hope you smash them (: xxx
