March is here and so is Spring – officially! After what seems like a very long Winter, it’s time to set some goals, I think. The lighter mornings and evenings are making me feel much more positive so, in no particular order, I want to …
Have a wardrobe edit
I have piles of clothes that I never wear so I really do need to have a sort out. I will be ruthless this time and make four piles. 1. Keep. 2. Sell on eBay. 3. Donate to charity. 4. Bin!
Have a beauty products sort out
Yes, it’s going to hurt to throw out some lovely – and expensive – products. But, if I haven’t worn 20+ lipsticks in the last 12 months then I’m not likely to this year either. And getting rid of old make-up and beauty products leaves me room for the goodies from my new monthly Birchbox subscription …
Sow some annual flower seeds
Last summer took me by surprise, I had no idea just how easy it is to grow your own flowers. I was also thrilled with how long and hard they flowered. I was picking vasefuls every week – for large table displays and smaller fragrant posies for bedside tables. And the best thing is you can grow varieties that you can’t buy in the shops. Cosmos, petunia, stocks, lavender, sweet peas, coreopsis, nicotiania, scabious, malope, sunflowers. Even a 1m x 1m square plot can supply you with flowers all summer and into autumn if you pick the right ones. Best of all, it’s fun! Try Sarah Raven or Thompson Morgan for some great choices and advice on what’s best to grow when and where.
Clear my mending pile and make some cushions
I’ve got into the habit of looking past the pile of mending at the side of the sofa. Two pairs of jeans need patching, three toys need holes sewing up, various buttons need to be reattached. I. MUST. DEAL. WITH. THIS. Because when I have I can blow the cobwebs off my sewing machine and finally make my cushions. I bought the fabric last October but I’m running out of excuses as to why I haven’t made them yet.
Read more books
I have over 20 books on my To Be Read shelf. Some were Christmas presents and some were birthday presents. They range from history to Young Adult (rather a lot of these!) and a couple of Gerald Seymours. And I must finish “Brighton Rock“ in time for our next Book Group meeting.
Realise a bonus goal – a dinner date with my husband
As opposed to squeezing in a quick sandwich or coffee while food shopping or between our daughter’s social dates. Actually going out for dinner together one evening would be a real achievement. And staying awake beyond 9.30pm would be the icing on the cake.
What are your March goals? I’d love to hear what you’d like to achieve this month!
