True Skincare Organic Facial Oils

TRUE Skincare Organic Facial Oils review *

7th October 2019      Lisa      46 Comments

GIFTED | Some of my all-time favourite beauty and skincare products are those that contain essential oils.  I’m a great believer in the power of natural, organic facial skincare, which I’ve found both effective and indulgent.  Although some facial preparations I’ve tried also come with a relatively high price tag.  So you can imagine my delight at discovering a new British brand, TRUE Skincare*, that offers certified 100% organic, natural, cruelty free, vegan friendly and affordable skincare.  I was very kindly sent two facial skincare oils to try: a cleansing oil and a rehydrating oil.  Here’s how I got on.

TRUE Skincare

TRUE Skincare has created a range of natural, cruelty-free products and the company swears by being honest and ethical.  Certified organic by the Soil Association, TRUE Skincare products are enriched with natural and organic ingredients.  They contain no chemicals, artificial fragrance or parabens, are 100% vegan-friendly and never tested on animals.

Inspired by the origins of Earth, Water and Air, these natural foundations have been combined with their associated essential oils.  I mean, how amazing does this sound?  TRUE Skincare’s ethos is all about using organically grown ingredients and natural components of essential oils.  And telling you exactly what is going onto your skin.

TRUE Skincare Clarifying Safflower & Geranium Cleansing Oil

Containing Safflower, Geranium, Jojoba and Vitamin E, this light organic cleansing oil* is suitable for oily and normal skin.  You might be thinking that putting oil onto oily skin is a no-no, but in fact, oil treats oil, so it makes perfect sense.  TRUE Skincare say their cleansing oil removes daily dirt, make up, and impurities whilst nourishing and balancing the skin.  And it’s gentle enough to be used across the eyes, removing even heavy and waterproof eye make-up.

True Skincare Organic Safflower & Geranium Cleansing Oil

Safflower Oil is rich in Linoleic Acid, an Omega 6, which works with the skin’s sebum to unclog pores and helps to reduce the appearance of blemishes.  This, combined with Geranium and Jojoba, tones, calms, nourishes, and locks moisture into the skin, whilst leaving it clean, clear and radiant.  And Geranium oil is antibacterial, a soothing anti-inflammatory, and has an uplifting fragrance that helps alleviate anxiety and balance hormones.  Also, fun fact alert: Safflower was once used to colour the tape wrapped around bundles of legal documents, creating the original “red tape.”

How to use

Tip around five drops into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and then smooth over your dry skin, including the eye area.  Massage the oil in a circular motion to loosen and lift make-up and dirt, then remove it with a warm, damp cloth.  If you need to repeat, the oil is gentle enough to allow you to do so, and you can use it both morning and evening.

True Skincare Organic Safflower & Geranium Cleansing Oil

Ingredients

  • *Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil
  • ***Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil,
  • Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil,
  • *Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil,
  • *Citrus Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil,
  • *Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil,
  • Tocopherol (Vitamin E),
  • *Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood) Bark Oil.
  • **Limonene, **Citronellol, **Geraniol, **Linalool, **Citral.
  • *Organically grown ingredient
  • ***Ingredient comes from a mix of organic and non-organic sources
  • ** Natural component of Essential Oils

What did I think?

As I said, I love that I’m using something pure, organic, vegan, and cruelty free too.  And I was amazed at how my make up simply dissolved on contact with the oil.  Even my notoriously hard-to-shift Benefit mascara melted away.  After some experimentation, I found it easiest to use a damp muslin cloth or face flannel first, then damp cotton wool pads to clear away any remaining eye make up.

True Skincare Organic Safflower & Geranium Cleansing Oil

My skin felt beautifully soft and super clean afterwards, with no residue left on a toner-soaked cotton wool pad either.  I’m very impressed!  At only £12.00 for 100ml, I know it will last me for AGES, especially as the oil drips out rather than pours.  And I’m more than happy to display this beautiful frosted glass bottle on my bathroom shelf too.

I prefer to use this TRUE skincare cleansing oil in the evenings when I have more time to treat my skin to a massage as well.  And I’ve also found the oil to be ideal for use in a double-cleanse routine: oil first followed by my usual Origins Checks and Balances face wash for a really deep clean.

If you’d like to try this lovely cleanser too, click here to buy TRUE Skincare Clarifying Safflower & Geranium Cleansing Oil right now on Amazon.

TRUE Skincare Rehydrating Rosehip & Rosemary Facial Oil

Despite having combination skin, I opted to try the TRUE Skincare Rehydrating Rosehip & Rosemary Facial Oil blend.*  (I’m not getting any younger, and more wrinkles are making their presence felt, sob).  So, I decided I wanted to rejuvenate and hydrate my skin for a more even, glowing complexion.  TRUE Skincare also offer a Safflower & Basil blend for oily or combination skin, and an Avocado & Evening Primrose oil for dry skin.

True Skincare Organic Rosehip & Rosemary Facial Oil

Rosehip seed oil is a tissue regenerator and it locks in the moisture whilst helping to reduce the appearance of scars, dark spots and fine lines.  Rosemary, on the other hand, is rich in antioxidant and antiseptic properties, helping to rid the skin of impurities and maintain a healthy, clear complexion.

How to use

Tip three or four drops into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and then smooth over your cleansed, dry skin, avoiding contact with your eyes.  As with the cleansing oil, the facial oil can be used both morning and/or evening.

True Skincare Organic Rosehip & Rosemary Facial Oil

Ingredients

  • *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil,
  • *Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil,
  • *Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernal Oil,
  • *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Fruit Oil,
  • *Rosa Rubiginosa (Rosehip) Seed Oil,
  • *Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil,
  • *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil,
  • *Citrus Bergamia (Bergamot) Peel Oil,
  • *Boswellia Carterii (Frankincense) Oil,
  • *Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Peel Oil,
  • *Cymbopogen Cablin (Patchouli) Oil,
  • *Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Leaf Oil,
  • **Citral, **Citronellol, **Geraniol, **Limonene, **Linalool
  • *Organically grown ingredient
  • **Natural component of Essential Oils

What did I think?

Some facial oils I’ve used in the part have felt quite heavy on my skin (although not those with essential oils, to be fair, since these tend to sink in quickly).  What I noticed straightaway, apart from the beautiful scent, was how fast my skin absorbed this Rosehip & Rosemary oil.  Either my skin is a lot more dehydrated than I thought (which is perfectly possible, even though I have combination skin), or this Beauty Shortlist Awards 2019 Winner really is the perfect facial oil for me.

True Skincare Organic Rosehip & Rosemary Facial Oil

A trick I learned from my Essential Oils client was to rub a few drops of a favourite oil in my palms, cup them, and inhale deeply a few times.  So rather than wipe away any excess oil, I’ve been using this very calming and grounding technique to complement my facials.  As with the cleansing oil, I prefer to use this facial oil in the evening, allowing it to penetrate my skin and boost overnight cell regeneration while I sleep.

Using only a few drops at a time means that this 30ml Rosehip & Rosemary facial oil is also going to last me a long time, a steal at just £13.50.  And I have another stunning glass bottle to decorate my bathroom too.  I must mention that, as with any product containing essential oils, you should keep all the TRUE Skincare facial oils out of direct sunlight.  And discontinue use straightaway if you experience any irritation or adverse reactions.

If you’d like to try this lovely facial oil too, click here to buy TRUE Skincare Rehydrating Rosehip & Rosemary Facial Oil right now on Amazon.

Would I recommend these oils?

Not only for aromatherapy, essential oils have long been used for beauty treatments because of their powerful skincare properties and fast absorption.  I’d also posit that harnessing carefully selected, pure organic extracts from Mother Nature makes far more sense than creating ever more complex and artificial chemical recipes.  As a gardener, I believe we can learn a lot from plants, for both our mental and physical wellbeing.

True Skincare Organic Facial Oils 09

I’ll leave you with a thought I’ve mentioned quite a few times before, which some of my regular readers may recognise: we wear our skin every day so why not invest in it?  And I don’t just mean financially.  If you’re looking for an affordable, effective, ethical, indulgent, and natural way to look after your skin then I don’t think you can go wrong with any of TRUE Skincare’s facial oils*.  Or indeed, any of their range of other treats.  Truly!

Have you used any essential oils facial products before?  If not, are you tempted to try some now?

This sounds like such a lovely product, Lisa! I think it’s great that most skincare products tend to use essential oils in their ingredients now making it more natural and less harmful for the body. Thanks for sharing, will definitely have to check this out!

These sound great! I tend to avoid most skincare products because of the ingredients in them. I love the concept of using essential oils instead! Add in the fact it’s organic, vegan and cruelty-free definitely helps!

wow such great prices for these products! you had my attention at cleansing oil! it’s helpful that you talked about how it works for eye makeup because i hate having to use something for my face and then something different for my eye makeup. i want it all off in one go, plus is have sensitive eyes so i have to be careful with what i use. however this doesn’t sound like it’d bother me at all which is great! i’ll have to see if they ship to america because it sounds really nice! thanks for sharing this review! xx

My skin breaks out so easily, you should see the state of it right now, so I’m always apprehensive when it comes to oils as I’m worried it’ll just clog up my pores even more! x
