Taking control of my health with VedaBio supplements *

14th January 2019      Lisa      30 Comments

GIFTED | The start of a new year is traditionally when we startthinking about our health, among other things, isn’t it?  Since becoming a freelancer who usually works from home, I lead a fairly sedentary and solitary life nowadays, which is not conducive to good emotional, mental or physical health.  So when I saw VedaBio * were looking for bloggers to test and review their newly launched food supplements, I put my (virtual) hand up straightaway.

Contents

  • 2. VedaBio Brain Care
  • 3. VedaBio Stress Care

VedaBio

VedaBio are a UK-based health care company with a mission to provide genuine health care to those who are health conscious.  Back in 2017, this surrounded nutrition advice for disease prevention, understanding the health benefits of different herbs and spices, and recipe advice.  Since then, the company has also begun providing a proprietary science-backed supplement range to help people make informed choices and changes.

But does the UK really need another brand of supplements?  With well-known companies such as Holland and Barrett, GNC, and Vitabiotics, it may seem like a saturated market.  VedaBio believes there is a gap though.  The company aims to explain the benefits of all the ingredients and wants their clients to challenge them to help them grow and evolve.  Unusually, they rely on social media (no in-store stock) because they believe that gives their clients direct contact and vice versa.

VedaBio’s current range of products includes three supplements: Brain Care, Stress Care, and Immune Care.  Each only uses ingredients that are shown to be effective in scientific studies.  Alan and I already take a few health supplements anyway, so we were keen to try VedaBio’s whole range.  I opted for Brain Care and Stress Care together, and Alan tried Immune Care.  We took one tablet of our chosen supplements a day with water for a month, starting in the second week of December.  Here’s how we got on.

VedaBio Brain Care

Scientifically formulated by doctors in the USA, UK and India, Brain Care has 100% natural ingredients including: Vitamin B12, Bacopa Monnieri, Ginkgo Biloba, Phosphatidylserine, and Magnesium Stearate.  I’m not going to pretend I know what all those are, but they claim to decrease levels of brain fog and positively affect memory retention.

Somewhat to my surprise (because I am a glass half empty girl), I noticed an effect within just a couple of days.  I seemed to be able to focus better, work more productively, and even keep hold of my train of thought, despite continual interruptions from my phone, emails, and Flora.  Normally, if I’m interrupted mid-flow, it takes me quite a while to pick up the threads again.  But over the last few weeks it’s been easier to do this than usual.  Admittedly I did take a two-week Christmas break from work, but obviously not from my daughter.

VedaBio Stress Care

Stress Care contains scientifically tested anti-stress ingredients, specifically Ashwagandha, also known as ‘Indian Ginseng’, a popular adaptogenic herb in Ayurveda.  It can reduce cortisol levels in your body thus suppressing anxiety and alleviating stress physically and mentally.  Other ingredients include: Mucuna Pruriens, Curcuma Extract, L-Theanine, and Phosphatidylserine plus Magnesium Stearate again.

Once again, I was rather pleasantly surprised.  The run up to Christmas, the end of term, the chasing of invoices, the struggle to complete all my work so I could take two weeks off.  Usually, I would be a bundle of nerves and bad temper but this time I could feel myself taking a far more chilled out approach.  I even turned down some paid work rather than sacrifice my family time, without feeling especially worried.  (Freelancing is a continuing struggle to strike a happy balance, it’s not all fun by the pool).  Being able to take a more balanced viewpoint is a pleasant change!

VedaBio Immune Care

Immune Care is FDA certified and recommended by doctors around the world, albeit sold under a different brand name in other markets.  The star ingredient is curcumin from turmeric, which decreases inflammation, blood pressure and reactive protein levels.  Alan had surgery a while back so we thought Immune Care would be ideal for his bone and joint health.

taking-control-of-my-health-with-vedabio

Alan also suffers from asthma and is therefore more prone than I am to seasonal coughs and colds.  Interestingly, he didn’t contract any lurgies over the festive period for the first time in years.  And neither has he experienced any stiffness or aching muscles recently either, so he’s cancelled his monthly visit to our osteopath for the time being.  I’d say that’s pretty impressive results after only a month.

Overall impressions

We went into this VedaBio trial with no particular expectations.  With the caveat that we’ve only tried the supplements for a few weeks, we’re both really rather impressed.  In an ideal world we’d probably like to try them for at least three months in a row and then see how we felt.  At the time of writing, we’ve just run out of the supplements so it will be interesting to see how quickly (or not) our bodies shrug off the benefits and effects we’ve experienced.  In the spirit of feedback to help evolution though, I should say that the print size on the reverse of the bottles is TINY.  I had to use a magnifying glass to read the advice panels!

taking-control-of-my-health-with-vedabio

What I particularly like about VedaBio, in addition to their desire to implement client feedback, is their commitment to social responsibility.  The company aims is to help over a million people in the developing world get access to vital, life-saving medication in the next five years.   VedaBio have partnered with a variety of charities around India and Africa and for every sale they make, will donate medicine to someone who otherwise would not have access to help.

Would I buy again?

As I said, Alan and I are no stranger to the benefits of health supplements.  I take a cod liver oil capsule every day (a tip from my mother) and a magnesium tablet to help with my pregnancy-induced slipped disc and mass of sciatic scar tissue.  Alan also takes magnesium and a few other supplements too.  This is honestly the first time we’ve experienced such marked effects in such a short space of time though.

taking-control-of-my-health-with-vedabio

We’re going to see how we get on for a few weeks without the supplements first.  But if my brain fog returns and my stress levels start to yo-yo again then yes, I think I will purchase some more Brain Care and Stress Care  Alan feels the same way about Immune Care too.  If you’re intrigued and tempted to try some for yourself then VedaBio are very kindly offering 10% off all orders with the code LISASNOTEBOOK10 at checkout.  A big thank you to VedaBio for allowing us to trial their new products.  Based on our experiences so far, we think they are definitely filling a gap in the market for health supplements that really work.

UPDATE: since this post was written, sadly VedaBio are no longer in business.

Do you take any health supplements?  How do you feel about natural remedies as part of a healthy lifestyle?

I’ve not heard of VedaBio before, but they sound like a great brand, especially as it’s all natural & you and Alan saw such impressive improvements in such a short space of time! That’s really awesome! I think my family and I could have done with the Immune Care over Christmas, as we all ended up getting ill with coughs and colds. I’d be interested to try Stress Care and Brain Care too, being focused, productive and chilled out sounds all good to me. It’s brilliant that they have partnered with various charities to enable those in need to get medicines, that is such a worthwhile cause. Thank you for introducing these fab supplements Lisa, great review as always! <3 xxx

I hadn’t heard of VedaBio either TBH but I’m very glad to have come across them. I’m still very surprised at how effective their new ranges were in just a few weeks, that’s not been my usual experience with supplements. And for Alan to be cough and cold free over Christmas is unheard of, he normally comes down with a really horrid infection. I’ve enjoyed being more relaxed over Christmas, we’ll just have to see if I can maintain the chill factor throughout January but if not, I know where I’m shopping! xxx

I’ve never heard of these before and am always a bit dubious of supplements but these sound pretty good – it’s a pity you couldn’t test them for longer though! I do want to try those brain ones though as I need more focus.

I’m still fairly cautious about supplements but these have a lot of science behind them and I have to say they did seem to work really well. We’ll see how we get on when we’re not taking them, that should be interesting! x

These products sound great. I really like that they’ve simplified the labels for the average user, labelling them for brain or stress etc. It’s important that people understand what they’re taking too so I appreciate that they’re explaining what the ingredients so rather than leaving it for you to research yourself. And, most importantly, they all seem to work?!?! They sound like such amazing products. Thanks for sharing! x

That’s one of the things I liked about them too, that they explain everything and what the ingredients actually do, rather than just assuming you know. And yes, they do seem to work, which is even better, haha! x

I feel like many people underestimate the power of our bodies when they are allowed to function at their optimal state, with the vitamins and nutrients that they require. I love that you’re exploring how these work for you! Thanks for sharing

I must admit that I’ve never heard of this brand before, but after reading your post, I am sold! As a vegetarian, I take a couple of supplements already to ensure that my iron and magnesium levels don’t drop too low but from reading your description of the stress care vitamin, I think I also need that in my life! Writing branded blog posts has been a little bit stressful for me as well lately so anything that can give me a boost would be well received! It’s amazing to hear that both you and Alan experienced such a positive impact during your trial, that speaks volumes for the effectiveness of the supplements!

And yes, I agree, anything to help with stress from trying to accomplish too much has got to be a good thing! We’re still very surprised at how well and how quickly they worked, it was quite amazing 🙂 xxxx

Christ I think I need all of these – especially since you both saw such a marked difference in such a short space of time. Working and blogging and studying means my brain is always in about five different places and if I could focus more, I’d throw all my money at the thing that helped! I’d never heard of the company before but you can’t beat natural supplements in these busy times!

🌈 Our beloved hobo has taken his last journey. Yes 🌈 Our beloved hobo has taken his last journey. Yesterday evening we had to say farewell to Ginger at nearly 21 years old.

13 years ago he wandered into our greenhouse and decided ours was his new home. So many memories:

😻 He saw us through Buzz, Lily, and Jester, and the arrivals of Spooky, Loki, and Lyra.
😻 Always the most chilled cat, not interested in fighting any other cats, ours or visitors.
😻 Greediest cat ever, not even willing to share with the resident hedgehogs. He could hear the sound of someone walking into the kitchen from 5 miles away.
😻 An inveterate bin diver – our neighbours got used to seeing their recycling spread across the road after he’d gone searching for food.
😻 Always commandeering the warmest spot in the garden or house.
😻 Putting up with Spooky always seeking him out and snuggling up with him.
😻Somehow generating more heat than a volcano, so we could never tolerate him on our laps for more than 10 minutes, we’d have to move him next to us instead.
😻 Always knowing when any of us needed comfort or company and snuggling up to offer purring support.

RIP, Ginger, thank you for choosing us, we were privileged to have you as part of our family, and you leave the biggest hole in all our hearts. 😿
