AD | When it comes to the interior design of our homes, it’s easy to get caught up in focussing on the furniture and paint. We can come up with the perfect arrangement and colour, either by ourselves, or with the help of some interior design apps, but can often forget about the accessories. As with our clothes, accessories make our living spaces unique, and showcase our personalities. And home accessories are often one of the first things we think to give as gifts to others, aren’t they? With that in mind, here are 7 of the best home decor gift ideas you’ll want to keep for yourself!
Contents
Where can I find the best home decor gift ideas?
From Amazon home decoration to unique pieces on Etsy, there’s a wealth of cool funky home decor products to choose from. And buying online makes delivery so much easier as well. But rather than the usual flowers or scented candle, why not consider one of these home decoration gifts instead?
Artwork
Sculptures, paintings, even framed children’s crayon drawings, all make personal and versatile home accessories. Available in all shapes and sizes, including large canvases for a feature wall, art pieces can really style up a living space.
Beautiful Plants
Houseplants are another fabulous idea for their looks and ability to improve your health by removing carbon dioxide and replacing it with oxygen. Certain indoor plants are also great for allergy sufferers as they neutralise polyethylene and other pollutants commonly found in floors and furniture. In particular, bamboo, spider plants, snake plants, and English ivy can help alleviate several respiratory conditions.
While you’re at it, don’t forget about the pots. Floately’s AIRSAI is a Floating Plant Pot that exposes plants to 360 degrees of sunlight, so they grow properly – no more turning pots to face the light once a week! One of these would make the perfect home decor gift for a home office, or a table in the kitchen.
Classy Mirrors
In all likelihood, the living room will have some unused space. Why not make the most of it with an eye-catching floor mirror. It doesn’t take up a lot of room and can instantly become a focal point for any wall. There are also endless sizes and styles, so you’re bound to find something for any home.
Cozy Rugs
Nothing feels as pleasant as the sensation of stepping on a bundle of comfort and warmth. And you can find rugs in an infinite number of patterns, styles, and colours. Whether you opt for antique or contemporary models, there’s sure to be a rug to suit everyone.
Designer Storage
We always need more storage space at home, don’t we? As we add to our belongings, we’re always looking for a way to store them. This is where designer storage comes into play, which both looks good and maximises efficiency. Among the most popular are closet organisers. with countless setups, including drawers, shelves, and units that can hold all sorts of things, from books, CDs, toys, and shoes. Typically, modified and expanded, they can be updated as needs change too.
Textured Pillows
The easiest way to jazz up living spaces and make them more comfortable is to add new pillows or cushions. Try different textures, like fringe and mohair fur, to add a touch of hygge cosiness or character to the area. Or, if textures don’t appeal, try colours or patterns that match the furniture. Darker pillows complement light furniture nicely, and vice versa. Why not think outside the box and combine styles that wouldn’t normally cross your mind?
Tranquil Lighting
For warmth, light, and a soothing ambiance, candles throughout the living room and bedroom are known to create a romantic atmosphere and nurture the senses at the same time. Alternatively, you can just as easily accomplish the same effect with LED light bulbs, which also have health benefits.
Floately’s VOLTA – Levitating Light Bulb is a standout piece that literally levitates while delivering light. As well as being a beautiful focal point, it’s shatterproof and can last 10 times longer than regular bulbs.

So many great decor gift ideas. I would love to receive any of these. I guess you would have to be sure that you know what the person’s style is before though!
Thanks for sharing 🙂

Oh absolutely – although I do feel you can’t go too far wrong with a houseplant in a floating pot! :0
Love this! I’m two months into a new house and it’s those finishing touches that I’m really tried to find at the moment to make this from house to home – so there are some great suggestions here, thank you!
Oh that’s so exciting! And I’m glad you found the post helpful too x
Plants and artwork – definitely!
Glad we agree 🙂
I just love plants in the house…. Enjoyed your post.
Thank you very much.
House plants are such a great gift idea. I’d not thought of that before, but it’s definitely a good one. I’d love to receive a house plant. I really like the textured cushions idea too as they can make the biggest difference to a home. I love adding texture to interior. Fab post!

I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with a houseplant – succulents are great, so low maintenance as well – and yes to a furry, textured cushion! x
This post came just in time Lisa! I’ve been wanting to do a home renovation and I’m looking for home decors I can buy to give my home the look I want it to have and you’ve got some amazing ones here! I’ve been unable to pick a favourite from all these decors as I love all of them. I will check them out. Thank you for sharing x
Oh that’s great to hear, Ruth – and yes, I know what you mean, there are some fab gift ideas here (not that I’m biased!) x
I’m super fussy when it comes to my decor so I’d have to pre-approve a gift before my family or friends buy it haha. They’re so used to me though and they know I’d rather nothing than buying me something I like so they’re happy for me to say exactly what I’d like. These are all great ideas and that floating light bulb has definitely caught my eye! Great post!
Thank you – yes, the floating lightbulb is a real head tuner!
Love this Lisa! I’ve been bought a few similar gifts as I’ve recently moved into my own home. Thanks for sharing x
Congrats on the new home – and thank you! x
These are fantastic gift ideas! The floating plant pot is so cool!

I like all these ideas. The Levitating Light Bulb looks amazing! I like how unusual it is, and this makes it for a great gift. As you mention, a gift like these ones would work in all occasions, from birthdays to housewarming.
It’s pretty cool, isn’t it? Would look fab in most homes, I think 🙂
Fab suggestions! I love the idea of giving artwork as a gift, there are so many different paths to go down with that! And classy mirrors and textured pillows sound amazing too, haha. Thanks for sharing x
Yes, there are – although I guess you;d need to know what your recipient likes first! x
These are some really good suggestions. I love the idea of big cozy rugs, I think they add the final touches to rooms. Thank you for sharing the other final touch ideas to have in the home.

I do too, they make ALL the difference 🙂 Thank you, Lauren, glad you enjoyed the post.
How pretty, great post! I love artwork, and plants!
Thank you very much.
I’ve seen these floating plants advertised and videos of them on social media and I love the design of them. What a simple but innovative idea! I also like the idea of textured pillows as they are easily available and such a quick way to uplift a space. Thanks for all the other ideas — they are great!
They are so cool, aren’t they? Such a talking point but so clever too, 360 degrees of light for your plants with no effort on your part required!
My family and I are currently looking at houses for my grandmother. She wants to move closer to us so we have been spending weekends checking out new places on the market. It is interesting perusing houses that still have all the furniture inside and seeing the different styles and ways people decorate their homes!
My favorite feel so far is a rustic feel in this old place from the 60’s. The furniture looked worn at first glance but was actually brand new and there were old glass bottles and writing desks splashing up every room. The one thing missing were house plants; I think they make a great housewarming gift!
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
That’s a beautiful home decor look, I adore the farmhouse aesthetic, it’s so cosy. But yes, houseplants can and often do make a place feel like home, lived in and comfortable. I hope your grandmother finds her ideal new home near you soon, Jaya 🙂 x
What an amazing design! Love it.

These are great home decor gifts! I love gifting artwork & I personally love receiving succulents as a gift. The floating plant pot looks so cool & I want it!
Succulents are great gifts, very easy to care for and they don’t take up much space – even in one of these fab floating pots!
I would probably like to keep the art work or plants. But these are such a lovely list of home decor ideas. I love candles too! Thank you for sharing this list Lisa.

Great minds, I would keep the plants as well, you can never have too many plants in your home! x
That was a great tip for using plants to help with allergens, and I loved your textured pillow idea. A textured pillow is such an inexpensive way to change the look of an entire room!
