Travelling Light With One of the Best All Weather Jackets for Women *

AD | With most of the UK COVID-imposed restrictions lifted in July, we couldn’t wait to start planning some more trips away. Staycations in Cornwall in the main, because you just don’t know how quickly these overseas traffic light bands will change, do you? And with wet weather being a sad fact of life here in the UK, both in summer and in winter, my recent discovery of the wonderful GAMMA jacket couldn’t have come at a better time. Here’s how travelling light with one of the best all weather jackets for women makes packing easy. Because it turns out you don’t need a plethora of jackets to stay protected from the rain and/or cold weather, just the right one.

Why is GAMMA one of the best all weather jackets for women?

Having had so many perfect family holidays and overseas travel plans fall through because of the pandemic, we’ve been re-learning how to pack for a trip in the UK. And trying to streamline our suitcases, and bring fewer unnecessary items for shorter trips. So a waterproof jacket that doubles up as a winter jacket but doesn’t weigh a ton feels like the Holy Grail. Enter the GAMMA, an all weather jacket that’s infused with a layer of graphene, one of the lightest and toughest materials around. And graphene is what makes Gamma unlike any other all weather jacket.

What is graphene?

Graphene is a nano-lattice – just one atom thick, yet it’s stronger than diamond. Known as “supreme graphene” for its long list of properties and benefits, this Nobel-prize winning compound is the thinnest, strongest, and most flexible known material. Fun fact: two layers of graphene are strong enough to stop a bullet. Although GAMMA uses one layer, so don’t go relying on it as a bullet proof vest…

How does GAMMA work as a cold weather coat?

Weighing less than a pound, GAMMA is extremely lightweight and thin, so it fits into smaller backpacks, travel bags, and cases with ease. As it works for both cold and warm environments, this really does make it one of the best all weather jackets for women as you can forego any others, saving precious storage space.

best all weather jackets for women - zipped up

Graphene’s thermal properties adapt to your body almost like a second skin, moving heat through its latticed structure, evenly distributing it around your body. In cold weather, the jacket will trap your body heat within its layers, and in warm weather, it expels heat and wicks away moisture to keep you cool. But if body heat alone isn’t enough to keep you warm in winter weather, the built in heating elements (powered by any USB power bank) will warm up the jacket to a toasty 40 degrees Celsius. You can even choose from 3 different temperature settings for maximum comfort, making GAMMA one of the best winter jackets for women.

Is GAMMA a good quality waterproof jacket?

As you would expect from an all climate jacket, GAMMA’s graphene lattice is extremely resistant to outside interferences like wind and rain. The light outer fabric ensures that the jacket stays windproof and waterproof, and its adjustable hood and drawstrings ensures optimal weather protection from all the elements. It also has a rain hem and a high collar for maximum coverage.

best all weather jackets for women - adjustable hood

Plus, unlike GORE-TEX, whose waterproofing can eventually wear down, you can put GAMMA through the washing machine as often as you like, it won’t affect the graphene. Nor will washing affect the heating elements, as they’re all sealed within the jacket. So no more costly in-wash waterproofing sprays and separate wash cycles make this another reason why GAMMA is one of the best all weather jackets for women.

Is GAMMA comfortable to wear?

GAMMA is light, durable, and yet comfortable to wear, unlike traditional plastics-based materials that work well in the local climate. It’s similar to wearing a hypoallergenic cotton hoody, just with added rain proofing, UV protection, and heat insulation. And a ton of useful pockets as well, making it a really good, functional, warm waterproof jacket.

best all weather jackets for women - internal pocket

Because when you’re travelling, backpacks can store a lot, but you can’t carry all that gear for all trips. What about when you want to pop to the shops, for example? Where will you put your phone, wallet, keys, and any other must have travel gadgets? Luckily, GAMMA has a total of ten pockets, strategically placed around the body for maximum storage space. While some of the inner pockets may taken up by the batteries powering the in-built heating elements, there’s still plenty of room to carry phones, money, keys, and other bits and bobs safely and securely.

Where can I order a GAMMA all weather jacket for women?

If having an all weather jacket that’s versatile and tailored to replace multiple garments for simpler travelling sounds good to you, you can learn more about graphene and order your GAMMA jacket at Wear Graphene. Oh, and just in case you’re feeling generous, the good news is GAMMA make the best all weather jackets for men too! Now there’s no excuse not to travel light, wherever you go and whatever the weather 🙂

Do you think you’d like to try a GAMMA? Have you ever worn a heated coat before? What kind of waterproof jacket do you normally pack when you travel?
