The Beauty Tag – 21 Questions

The Beauty Tag – 21 Questions

Today I’m doing another tag post because I love reading them and finding out more about my fellow bloggers, and this time it’s a Beauty Tag. I was inspired by Holzie Loves (you can read her post here) and after a quick bit of Googling and a little bit of brainstorming, here are the resulting 21 questions.

So, let’s get started…

  1. Do you remember your first makeup item? This is going back a loooooooooooong way but yes, I do, it was a Rimmel bullet shaped Kajal eyeliner. I think it may have belonged to my mother but I purloined it 🙂
  1. Describe your perfect mascara? I don’t really stick to any particular brand, as long as they give me some length and fullness and I don’t look like I’ve got dead spiders stuck to my lids then I’m happy.
  1. What kind of coverage do you prefer in a foundation? I prefer light powder coverage (Bare Minerals is my current favourite) because I’m not very good at application and I don’t like a caked look.
  1. Favourite high end brand? I’m not sure what counts as high end but I’m very fond of Bare Minerals and Stila.
  1. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t? I’m quite intrigued by all the buzz around the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. Not quite enough to buy one yet but that might change if I keep reading good things about them.
  1. Favourite drugstore brand? Looking in my makeup drawer, I would have to plump for Rimmel and Bourjois. Although neither of them feature in my makeupbag (the contents of which are in the pic at the top of this post)!
  1. Do you wear fake eyelashes? I would love to try but I’m too scared of pulling out my own spindly little lashes when I had to remove them. I make do with LVL treatments (lash lift and tint) every eight weeks or so.
  1. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without? Lipstick and my Revlon primer, which can be used over the top of make up to matt down my oily T zone.
  1. What is your most cherished beauty product? Still my HD Brows palette, which I talked about before. My brows are so sparse that if I don’t fill them in I look like a potato.
  1. Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely? Haha, a beauty what? No, I don’t, but I am inherently Scrooge-like so I rarely go overboard.
  1. What type of product do you buy the most of? Lipsticks and nail polishes. They’re like sweets to me, they just make me happy. And OPI are by far and away the best nail polish brand I have ever tried.
  1. Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup? Superdrug, Boots, TK Maxx, outlet stores, and online.
  1. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine? I’m not averse to trying new skincare but I find that some don’t agree with my skin. I had a few Balance Me products in my Birchboxes and they didn’t work for me at all. My beloved Origins Checks and Balances facewash and Drink Up intensive moisturiser mask are the ones that I always come back to.
  1. Favourite bath and body brand? Origins Ginger Essence. I have the bath cream, shower gel, body lotion, perfume, and even the candle, so I guess you could say I’m quite partial to the fragrance.

  1. Favourite Beauty Guru? I thought Kevyn Aucoin was hugely creative and talented. I have a couple of his coffee table books that I like dipping into now and again.
  1. Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains? Yes, I have a Stila convertible lip and cheek tint in Tulip, which I love (see pic at the top of this post). Although I do have to use a lip balm sometimes as what works on my cheeks is occasionally a little drying on my lips.
  1. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? Only when I’ve got a cat sitting on my lap and head butting me as I’m trying to apply it.  So most mornings then.
  1. What do you love about makeup? It makes me look alive!
  1. How many hair products do you use on a typical day? None if I’m not washing it, just an Afro comb to make an attempt at tidying my curls without turning them into a ball of frizz. If I’m washing it, then shampoo, conditioner, detangling spray, curl defining cream.
  1. Which beauty bloggers do you read? No-one in particular but I loved reading Boxes and Swatches beauty box reviews, and the photography of the beauty bloggers on Instagram is just #goals.
  1. Any make up or skin care tips to share? Never underestimate the power of a red lipstick. It may take a while to find a shade that suits you but on a meh day I find it transforms so much more than my face 🙂

So there we are, my first Beauty Tag, I hope you enjoyed reading it. I haven’t tagged anyone but if you’d like to have a go too then please do tag me, I’d love read your answers and find out more about you too.

It makes me look alive ?? I feel that Lisa! I look dreadful without make up but I also HATE putting it on – I find it so mind numbingly boring. I remember the first bits of make up my mum bought me when I was little- like little lip gloss type things from Superdrug. Aww I miss that xxx

Lovely tag post-it’s very much a departure from your usual style 😀

Hi, I loved reading these tags. My first makeup was lipstick, I love Origins as well. I am always clumsy with my makeup.

I loved reading this! I’ve never seen this tag before but I found the questions so interesting. I absolutely remember my first ever makeup item. I got ridiculously sentimental about it. About a decade later it’s still upstairs ? x

I’d like to add I’m obviously not still using it…

I am always intrigued by tag posts as well, they often threw up some really interesting and unexpected answers which allow you to get to know your favourite bloggers even better! I am super clumsy when putting on make-up as well, I don’t think my eyeliner has ever been symmetrical! I am with you on the light coverage foundations as well, they are a lot easier to deal with and looking cakey is a big fear of mine! Couldn’t agree more on the power of a red lipstick!

Completely agree with the red lipstick tip! It’s my favourite range of colours. I’m yet to try any Charlotte Tilbury goods yet, not sure if I’m missing out or not tho?! Nice insight into your make up Lisa! ? xx

I’m definitely been feeling inspired lately to try out more makeup looks. I have no clue what to buy really and only use foundation and lipstick if I’m going out otherwise none at all. It’s good to read posts like this to get some inspiration on different brands to look out for. He he, the cat comment made me laugh, I know the feeling! My cats normally head butt me when I’m on twitter and I end up clicking all over the place ha ha! Great post as always Lisa and fabulous photography <3 xx

Aaah I saw my blog name and went ? that’s me! Hehe! Thank you for mentioning me, I love reading your blog too. ? I really enjoy these beauty tags because I’m so nosy, I think I might do it on my blog too. ☺️

Loved this post, this tag sounds really fun! I’m also guilty of clumsily doing my makeup when I have my cat sat on my lap nudging me haha!

Lolol you’re quite funny Lisa ? maybe your kitty wants to join in too! I love Rimmel too as well as maybelline and L’Oreal, and let’s talk about how amazing Bare Minerals is! Great tag and answers, my first time reading one ☺️?

xx Lena |

I think Rimmel has to be my favourite drugstore brand too, they’re not too pricey but they always impress! Just dropped you a follow also over on BL x

Missed this at Teacup today but still fancied reading as I always enjoy your posts!
I’m rubbish at beauty stuff, I hardly wear make up ?I do like a nice red lipstick though, and I’m all over a bath bomb.

This is such a cute post. I always like reading these kind of posts where we know more about the person. I loved reading all your answers Lisa. I remember the first lipstick that I used it was my sisters and I used to put it on and pretend I am not wearing how silly I was really! hahaha

Bethany Jane

I feel you on the Bourjois and Rimmel love – they’re both so easy to just ‘get a little thing’ from and so often there’s a 3 for 2 on haha! I also am right there with you with the cat thing, they don’t like humans looking better than them I reckon!
