AD | Age is the great leveller and sadly our hands, neck, and face, especially around our eye area are usually the first places to show it. The delicate skin around the eyes is the thinnest on our bodies, which is why eye creams are popular due to their ability to help minimise wrinkles and fine lines and care for your skin at the same time. But not all eye creams are equal so, I was curious to try the Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Cream recently and see if using luxury hydrating eye cream would really make any difference to my skin.
Why Use An Eye Cream?
Did you know there are 22 muscles working under the fragile skin around our eyes, which also blink around 10,000 times each day? As we age, our skin becomes drier, thinner, looser, and our collagen levels decrease, so blood vessels under the surface become more visible. And so, unfortunately, do those dark circles and crows’ feet. We all know about taking regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, not smoking, managing our stress levels, and getting enough quality sleep. But sometimes a little extra help, such as incorporating an eye treatment into our beauty and skin care routines, can do wonders.
Who Are Obagi?
Founded in the US in 1988, Obagi creates skincare products to target the visible signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and hyper-pigmentation, as well as specific treatments for acne and sun protection. The company says, “Our products are not tested on animals, and all Obagi products that are not prescription-strength are cruelty free.” Having previously fallen in love with the gorgeous Obagi Daily Hydro Drops facial serum, I had high hopes for their eye cream, especially after reading some of the online ELASTIderm Eye Cream reviews.
Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Cream Benefits and Ingredients
I’ve tried high street eye creams in the past and not really noticed much difference, but Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Cream is much more high end, and features a proprietary Bi-Mineral Contour Complex. Apparently, this is clinically proven to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while providing a firmer, more resilient look. Something I am very much on board with 🙂 The eye cream is suitable for all skin types – combination, normal, oily, sensitive, and dry skin. Oh, and of course it’s ophthalmologist tested, as you’d expect for any product that’s going near your eyes.
The three key ingredients in that Bi-Mineral Contour Complex™ are zinc, copper and malonate, which are specifically combined to promote the three necessary stages of developing healthy elastin. In other words, the eye cream helps create a smoother look around your eyes.
I’m not going to pretend to understand all the other ingredients, but in the interests of a complete review, here they are. I recognise skin saviours blueberry and licorice, and I also recall learning about the strength of polymers in one of Flora’s Letterbox Lab subscription boxes, so I guess the science works 😉

How To Use ELASTIderm Eye Cream
The key to the success of any product is in the application. Especially in this case as you absolutely don’t want to drag or damage the delicate skin around your eyes. When I trained as a Beauty Specialist, I learned you should use your ring finger to gently pat small dots of a pea-sized amount of product all around your orbital bone or eye socket. Patting rather than rubbing will stimulate blood circulation and also help to reduce fluid retention, especially if you have any puffiness or swollen eyelids.
ELASTIderm Eye Cream has a lightweight, smooth formula and a pale blue tint, so you can easily see what you’re doing. If you find you have excess product, then by all means gently smooth it in until absorbed. And you should apply it after cleansing, both morning and before bed every day, to protect, nourish and maintain hydration. Lastly, as with most skincare products, keep the eye cream out of direct sunlight and at room temperature to maintain its integrity.
Does ELASTIderm Eye Cream Work?
As mentioned earlier, I had high hopes for the Obagi Medical ELASTIderm Eye Cream. The product comes in a jar which holds 15g of unfragranced, light blue cream. It feels lightweight, fresh, and smooth, glides on easily, and is quickly absorbed, leaving no sticky residue or trace behind. I particularly like that it’s not a heavy cream, which I’ve experienced in the past and which made the skin around my eyes feel very congested and heavy.
I’ve been using ELASTIderm Eye Cream for four weeks now and while I haven’t noticed any particular change in my old lady droopy eyelids, I do believe my crows’ feet are less visible. The skin at the outer corners of my eye definitely looks and feels smoother, and my eye bags seem less prominent as well. Whether that’s down to the product or the act of taking care of my eye area for the first time in *coughs* several months, who can say. But I’m going to plump for the product because I’ve not experienced this result with any other eye cream in the past, and that includes rollerball serums. And it seems I’m not alone either, as the online product reviews are also glowingly effusive. Top tip: if you do end up with too much product on your finger, pat the excess gently around your lip line where it can work its magic as well.
Where To Buy ELASTIderm Eye Cream
If anti-aging skincare is part of your self-care routine, particularly with regard to eye treatments, then I think the Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Cream is definitely one to investigate. The full range of ELASTIderm products is available to buy from Obagi and selected online stores such as Skinstation. Yes, the ELASTIderm Eye Cream is at the higher end of the price range (£95.00) but, based on how much I’ve still got left after four weeks, I reckon the product should easily last you around five months or more. Remember, you only need to use a tiny amount each day. And, as regular readers of my blog will know, I’m a firm adherent to the mantra you get what you pay for. Bearing in mind we wear our skin every day, do I believe ELASTIderm is a hydrating eye cream worth investing in? Yes indeed, I really do.

This is an eye cream that I haven’t heard of before, which is a rarity! I will definitely have to look into it and see if the product might be helpful for me. I’m trying to be as preventative with my skincare routine as I possibly can be.

I have never tried an eye-cream, but I love the color and smoothness of this one and love that it will last a nice, long while. Reading this also brings back memories of an episode of a show I used to watch called The Middle, where the mother character accidentally buys an eye cream she thought was $20, but was really $200! 🤣

I used this on one eye for six months, and a a ROC retinol eye cream on the other, and the obagi one had noticeably less pronounced lines on the outer corners when I smiled. Gotta love experiments!
