So, this is my first Blogger Tag post, I’m really looking forward to doing this. I’ve read quite a few of these “get to know me” posts recently. Two that inspired me to put my own list of 15 questions together are Lydia’s at Mademoisellewomen (she’s done lots!), and Abbie Chic’s one. I hope you enjoy reading my answers as I had lots of fun writing them. Anyway, here we go!
1. Why did you start blogging?
I’ve always enjoyed writing but my last job saw me focussing more on the digital/IT side of things. Redundancy after nearly 11 years gives me the opportunity to – hopefully – have a freelance career where I can still do what I really love but also have a balance that suits me. Plus, I just love the whole process of blogging: writing, researching, taking pictures, social media, other blogger interaction. And it’s great to have something that’s mine and just for me.
2. Favourite subject at school
History – it still is, I love reading anything about the Plantagenets and Tudors. Although it REALLY bugs me when authors claim to be historically accurate and they’re not. Philippa Gregory, I’m looking at you …
3. Favourite drink
My alcoholic drink of choice is Mateus Rose (one of the original 25 things that make me happy). If I’m driving then lime and soda. And tea, always tea.
4. Favourite singer/group
I can’t narrow it down to one so I’m going to say The Killers, Blondie, and Roxy Music. I’m proud to say that Blondie’s The Tide is High was the first single I ever bought – uber cool, no? And I’m beyond excited as I’ve just found out that The Killers are coming to the UK in November – YAY!!!
5. Favourite film
Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, and Cat. What’s not to love?
6. Favourite book
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. It’s a fascinating take on how Henry VIII’s court might have looked to his chief minister, Thomas Cromwell. A hugely deserving Booker Prize winner. I enjoyed the sequel, Bring up the Bodies too but Wolf Hall is my favourite. I wish she’d hurry up and write The Mirror and the Light (the last in the trilogy) now.
Twitter because of the social interaction. And for the funny tweets, top tips, and breaking news. And Instagram for the interaction and inspiration, although that’s also tempered with a serious dose of other users’ lifestyle envy!
8. How to you like to spend free time when you’re alone?
Pottering around my house or garden. And getting side tracked by forgotten treasures every time I’m supposed to be having a sort out …
9. Signature scent
Origins’ Ginger Essence™, a mix of bergamot, lemon, lime, and, yes, ginger. It took me a long while and several famous brands to find what smells right on me. Ginger is a fresh, warm, and zesty fragrance unlike any other perfume I’ve ever smelt. It makes me feel happy and I never smell it on anyone else!
10. Which celebrity style inspires you?
Weird as her style isn’t mine but I’m going to say Kirstie Allsopp because she always looks so well turned out.
11. Do you speak any other language?
I speak some French, a little German and a little Italian. Enough German and Italian to buy a round anyway!
12. Favourite holiday
Kalkan in Turkey. We’ve been 16 times in the last 20 years so I guess it must tick our boxes! We’ve got friends there, it’s sunny, the accommodation is always immaculate, there’s a weekly market to haggle at, boat trips to go on, fantastic food, and gazillions of cats. My perfect holiday.
13. Can you cook?
Yes, I like to think I can, I most enjoy cooking a Sunday roast. During the week meals I find more boring and where my seven year old is concerned, it would sometimes be easier to just throw all the ingredients in the bin … #fussyeater.
14. Biggest pet peeve?
Rudeness. Whether not being thanked for holding the door open or being cut up whilst out driving. So annoying and unnecessary.
15. One thing you are proud of
To have got to the point in my life where I’m really happy and (more or less!) comfortable with who I am. This, I must say, is thanks entirely to my gorgeous husband, my amazing daughter, and my lovely friends.
Thank you for reading my responses, I hope you enjoyed them. As I don’t know many other bloggers that well yet, I won’t tag anyone in particular but if you’d like to do this tag post, then I’d love to read about you too!

Nice to meet you! You have great music taste. I also love Blondie and The Killers (who are great live btw) hope you get to see them in concert!
Haha, thank you, I thought my music taste was a bit vintage but that’s cool nowadays, right? And, yes, I can’t begin to stress how much I want to see The Killers this year, so glad to hear they’re all I’m hoping for!
