AD | For many mothers, the option to work full-time isn’t available due to childcare issues. And even part-time work brings challenges if you have to pay for travel and nursery fees, as well as juggle travel on top. I was very lucky to be able to change my working hours and start working from home, but many employers aren’t so flexible. In which case, knowing about a few easy, well-paying work from home job options might be helpful.
Earn money talking
Thousands of audio-visual and audio content of all kinds are uploaded to the Internet every day. And the companies that produce videos, audiobooks, podcasts etc, need people to record all the accompanying text. This is where you come in: you could become a voice recording artist. The work is quite straightforward. The companies will send you (usually via email) some text to read aloud and record, and then you send back the sound file (again, via email). You don’t need any special tools to do this, just a computer, a microphone and an Internet connection.
Voice over artist
Similar to a voice recording artist, is a voice over artist. This time you record your voice reading lines or a script of a movie or show. You’re essentially dubbing it to English or another language. All you need is a microphone and perhaps a little passion for acting (!) If this sounds like something you fancy, you can find out more at voquent.com.
Teach classes via your computer
You don’t have to be a Maths expert to be an online teacher. There are quite literally hundreds of talents that many people want to learn online from the comfort of their own homes. You could teach English, Italian or French for those who want to learn a second language. Or you could work from home offering lessons in an instrument that you know how to play, like the piano, guitar, or violin.
Other interesting options might be working as a YouTube streamer, yoga instructor, tai chi, Pilates, dance teacher, or even giving cooking classes via your computer. Or you could enrol on an online teaching course – because life coaching is another work from home opportunity that you can offer online. All you need is a page to advertise your services, a good Internet connection, a webcam or a microphone to talk to your audience, and a programme to communicate, such as Skype, Zoom or Facebook Live.
Become an online interior designer and create an eBook
Interior decoration is something that more and more people are looking into every day because we all like a lovely home, don’t we? If you think you have some good ideas and could help others make their homes look more stylish, you can offer interior design advice on this online. You could start a blog or a Facebook page for people to find you, and write articles with home improvement tips for them. Once you’ve written a few articles, you could even offer an eBook for sale with your best tried and tested tips.
Offer parenting advice and tips
Influencer marketing is a growing phenomenon and parenting is one of the most popular topics. Mums and dads often turn to the Internet for advice on what to do when they have a child-related issue. So why not offer them some of your advice online by way of a blog? Or if you don’t want to write, you could set up a free YouTube channel instead: all you need is a camera, a computer with some simple editing software, and an Internet connection.
So these are five easy, flexible, and potentially well-paying work from home job options for mums (and dads too). What do you think? Have you tried – or are you tempted to try – any of them?
