25 things that make me happy

17th April 2017      Lisa      4 Comments

I seem to have read a lot of other people’s “list” posts recently, and it started me thinking about my own list of 25 things that make me happy.  So, in no particular order we have:

  1. Gardening – clearing, pruning, weeding, digging, sowing, harvesting – just getting my hands grubby.
  2. Riding – utter relaxation and enjoyment and a gallop across the fields is my closest thing to flying.
  3. Buying new lipsticks and/or nail varnishes (even if I never wear them).
  4. Being able to read a book in one go (or over two days as opposed to 2-3 weeks).
  5. Sunbathing and snoozing in the sun.
  6. Cooking and eating a Sunday roast dinner.
  7. A bottle of Mateus Rose to myself (the eagle-eyed among you may spot I grew up in the 1970’s).
  8. Working out an IT solution by myself (with just a little help from Google).
  9. Going out with my 7-year old daughter.
  10. Being on holiday in Turkey or Cornwall.
  11. Sharing a bottle or two with my husband (he doesn’t drink Mateus Rose).
  12. Getting my lashes done with an LVL treatment.
  13. The anticipation of my monthly Birchbox treats.
  14. Writing for my blog!
  15. Snuggles with our cats, especially my old boy.
  16. Watching Gardeners World.
  17. Buying White Company candles (a girl can never have too many candles).
  18. Browsing Instagram/Pinterest/Twitter.
  19. Reading – and rereading – anything by Laini Taylor.
  20. My Book Group meetings.
  21. Winning on eBay (I am a seasoned sniper).
  22. Swimming in the sea (when it’s REALLY warm enough!)
  23. Sleeping with clean, line-dried bed linen.
  24. Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens …
  25. Driving my beloved MGB GT in the summer months.

So, these are just some of the 25 things that make me happy, there are many more but I will save those for another post another time 🙂  Do any of mine strike chords with you too?  What makes you happy?

I share several of these Lisa.
Cats, wine, books, holidays, relaxing in the garden, a cup of tea in one of my bone china cups………etc.
Most of all, seeing my lovely family!

Bone china cups sound lovely, Mary – maybe when Flora is older … but I completely agree about family, that’s so important!

Aka Common Laccaria, Waxy Laccaria, Lackluster Laccaria, Deceiver, apparently they’re edible. But as I’m not a fungi expert, I don’t think I’ll be harvesting them for mushrooms on toast any time soon!

If you don’t have any of these perennials in your outside space, you’re missing a trick.

Happy in pots, baskets, and the ground, ours have survived frost, snow and can’t be beaten for fabulously cheerful pops of colour at this time of year. Highly recommended! 👌

And to prune them hard, taking lots of cuttings for new plants. I do this every year, and my plant loving friends all know what they’ll be getting in due course! 💖

Great value though, she’s been flowering for months - an absolute bargain supermarket buy from a few years ago, and proof you really don’t need to spend a lot on plants. 🌹
