5th January 2023      Lisa      Leave a Comment

AD | Our bathrooms aren’t only somewhere to take a shower or have a bath. They’re also a place where we can relax and indulge in some much needed self-care. And having a beautiful bathroom environment is key to this. However, whether you’re looking to give your sanctuary a complete makeover or just want to spruce it up, modernising your bathroom doesn’t have to be expensive. It’s perfectly possible to do it on a budget, and to create a room you’ll look forward to spending time in.

The Key to Modernising Your Bathroom – 4 Top Tips

With just a few simple and affordable updates, you can have a modern, stylish bathroom in no time. Here are some tips for remodelling your bathroom decor without breaking the bank.

Try and Make It as Open as Possible

One of the best ways to make your bathroom look more modern is by making it feel more open and airy. Adding windows or mirrors will help create an illusion of more natural light. If you don’t have any windows in the room, adding mirrors around the walls can help create this effect.

A good quality mirror can help heighten the look and provide small ensuites with the illusion of space. You can also ditch your traditional shower curtain for an open glass shower enclosure to make the room feel larger and brighter.

Add House Plants

House plants are an easy way to bring life into any room, and bathrooms are no exception. Transform your tired bathroom into a tropical rainforest! Do some research to find out which plants are better suited for a bathroom environment (as humidity levels tend to be higher in bathrooms). This will ensure that your plants stay healthy and vibrant for years to come.

If your houseplant game isn’t that strong, some artificial plants would give the same effect. These would also be ideal if you don’t have a lot of natural light in your bathroom. A few potted plants scattered around the room will instantly brighten up the area and add some colour to liven things up.

Add Some Colour

If you’re looking for a way to add some personality without spending too much money, then adding some colour is a great option. You don’t have to go overboard with this one – just choose colours that reflect your own personal style. Add colourful towels, rugs, and even artwork if you’d like. These small touches will make all the difference when it comes to making your bathroom look more contemporary.

Paint is easy way to get started, provided you use the right formula of bathroom paint, to cope with the humidity. Use your chosen shade as an accent wall and build the rest of the room’s colour scheme around it. Depending on how your bathroom walls are structured, you could take a look into coloured or patterned tiles too.

Optimise Storage

Another great way to make sure that your bathroom looks tidy is by optimising storage options. Baskets, drawers, hooks – anything that can help organise all of those toiletries, so they aren’t all visibly laid out on shelves or counters. This is especially true if you have a few people sharing the same bathroom.

A good idea would be to have a different basket for each person’s individual items. Investing in good storage solutions will ensure that everything has its own place so that you don’t have clutter lying around everywhere. Mount things on the wall with hooks to make the most of your vertical space as well as your horizontal.

With these four simple tips, it’s easy to start modernising your bathroom without having to break the bank. From adding house plants for colour and atmosphere, optimising storage solutions for tidiness, or even replacing your traditional shower curtain with an open shower enclosure, there are plenty of ways you can update your space without spending too much money. So why wait? Start updating your bathroom today and enjoy a stylish new look without draining your wallet!

Which of these tips did you find most useful? How would you go about modernising your bathroom this year?

If you don’t have any of these perennials in your outside space, you’re missing a trick.

Happy in pots, baskets, and the ground, ours have survived frost, snow and can’t be beaten for fabulously cheerful pops of colour at this time of year. Highly recommended! 👌
