Who says Valentine’s Day is just for couples? What about showing yourself some love as well by treating yourself to a 14-day self-care and self-love challenge? Whether you’re single, in a relationship, or somewhere in between, this is a powerful way to boost your confidence, improve your wellbeing, and create some really good habits for the year ahead. Here’s how you can spend 14 days on the run up to Valentine’s Day taking care of yourself, re- valuing yourself, and strengthening a positive relationship with yourself.
Valentine’s 14-Day Self-Care and Self-Love Challenge
I’ve put together a list of 14 simple self-care and self-love challenge ideas. Please feel free to pin them (from the image below) or you can download a free printable here if you prefer.
Day 1: Start with a Self-Love Journal
The first step to any self-care and self-love journey is to reflect. Grab a journal (or any notebook) and write down what self-love means to you. What does it look like in your life? How can you nurture your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing? If you’re stuck on what to write, take inspiration from some famous quotes about love to get you started. Journalling helps you connect with yourself on a deeper level, and it’s a great way to start your 14-day challenge.
Day 2: Take a Relaxing Bath
Treat yourself to a long, relaxing bath. Add your favourite bath salts, essential oils, or bubble bath to create a spa-like atmosphere. Light a few candles, put on some calming music, and let the warm water soothe away your stress. This simple act of self-care can do wonders for your body and mind.
Day 3: Practise Positive Affirmations
Most of us have an inner voice that can sometimes be a little too critical – oh, hello, imposter syndrome. So, focus on changing that narrative by practising positive affirmations. Write down a few statements like, “I am worthy of love,” “I am enough,” and “I am proud of who I am.” Repeat them throughout the day, especially when you need a confidence boost.
Day 4: Go for a Walk in Nature
Nature has a unique way of calming the mind and boosting your mood. If you’re lucky enough to have a garden or outdoor space, get outside. If not, take a stroll in a local park or through your neighbourhood. Breathe in the fresh air, admire the beauty around you, and just be present in the moment. It’s an easy way to reset and recharge.
Day 5: Indulge in Your Favourite Treat
What’s your go-to self-care treat? Whether it’s a slice of chocolate cake, a cup of coffee from your favourite café, a delicious grazing board, a big bunch of fresh flowers, or binge-watching a show, today is the day to indulge in your favourite treat. Savour it slowly and enjoy every moment. You deserve it.
Day 6: Unplug for an Hour
Sometimes, the constant buzz of emails, notifications, and social media can leave us feeling overwhelmed – especially if you work in marketing. (IYKYK). Take an hour (or more) to completely unplug from ALL your devices. Use the time to relax, read a book, meditate, or just breathe. Disconnecting from the digital world helps you reconnect with yourself.
Day 7: Pamper Your Skin – All Over
Self-love isn’t just about how you feel on the inside; it’s also about taking care of your body. Treat your skin to some TLC with a hydrating mask or your favourite skincare routine. Exfoliate, mask, moisturise, and make yourself feel refreshed. Take your time and enjoy the experience.
Day 8: Do Something Creative
Engage your creative side today. Whether it’s painting, writing, crafting, cooking, or dancing around your living room, doing something creative is a great way to tap into your inner joy. Don’t worry about the outcome, just enjoy the process and express yourself however you wish.
Day 9: Write a Love Letter to Yourself
It may feel a bit odd at first, but this is an incredibly powerful exercise in self-care and self-love. Write yourself a heartfelt love letter. Acknowledge your strengths, your achievements, and all the wonderful things that make you unique. Remind yourself how incredible you are, and let that sink in. Yes, it’s hard at first, but you can be your biggest cheerleader.
Day 10: Move Your Body
Self-love isn’t just about pampering yourself with relaxation and indulgence, it’s also about celebrating your body through movement. Whether it’s a gentle yoga session, a dance class, or just a walk around outside, moving your body is essential for both physical and mental health. Choose something that feels good for you and go at your own pace.
Day 11: Treat Yourself to a Cosy Night In
Sometimes, there’s nothing better than staying in and getting cosy. Create the ultimate self-care evening by slipping into your comfiest pyjamas, making a cup of tea or hot chocolate, and curling up with your favourite book, film, or TV series. It’s all about comfort and relaxation.
Day 12: Practise Gratitude
Gratitude is one of the most powerful tools for shifting our mindset and focusing on the positive. Take some time today to write down three things you’re grateful for – try these gratitude journal prompts to help you. It could be something small, like a delicious cup of coffee, or something bigger, like your health, or a recent accomplishment. Practising gratitude helps you appreciate everything you have in your life.
Day 13: Declutter Your Space
A cluttered space can lead to a cluttered mind. Take a little time to declutter your environment, whether it’s your desk, bedroom, or kitchen. Clear away things that no longer serve you and create a peaceful space that promotes relaxation and creativity. A tidy space can help you feel calmer and more grounded.
Day 14: Set Intentions for the Future
Now that you’ve spent 13 days focusing on self-care and self-love, it’s time to think ahead. Set intentions for how you want to continue your wellness journey. What new habits do you want to carry into next month? How can you make self-care and self-love a regular part of your routine? Think about the positive changes you’ve made in the last two weeks to help you set some realistic goals to keep nurturing yourself.
Keep the Love Flowing
Congratulations on completing your 14-day Valentine’s self-care and self-love challenge! By now you should be feeling much more positive about yourself. But taking the time to focus on your mental, emotional, and physical health and wellbeing shouldn’t be a one-off event. Make sure you carry on nurturing yourself, practising kindness, and remembering that you’re worthy of love and care every single day of the year, not just on the run up to Valentine’s Day. 🙂

These are such lovely ideas, Lisa! I love to journal and have a self-reflecting session. I am planning on baking some cupcakes this Valentine’s Day to enjoy with my family 🙂 x
Thank you, Caroline! Ah, your Valentine’s Day plans sound perfect, hope you have a lovely day. x
A relaxing bath sounds amazing right now… and heading outside for a hike in nature is the perfect way to recharge. I especially loved your tip for practicing gratitude. It’s amazing how much better I feel when I take a moment to count my blessings!
It’s true, I don’t think many of us realise how lucky we are until we stop, breathe, and remember!
What a wonderful idea. I will be away, but I like the idea of having a list of things to pamper oneself. I will get a sheet mask on my travels, as I’m inspired by your post.
Oh yes, great idea, I love a sheet mask! Thank you, Anca. 🙂
‘Write a love letter to yourself’, wow. This was in conversation at a table of six the other day and only one person could. It wasn’t me. In fact I dipped my head. I came home and I thought about it, ie why couldn’t I? Truth is, it felt unnatural, undeserved, emotionally challenging. We seek it from everyone else but ourselves. So yes, this is an area that requires an awful lot of self-care and love.
Oh what a coincidence! And yes, I do know what you mean, it feels very strange to write a letter to oneself, particularly a love letter. But we need to learn to value ourselves as well as others, so it’s a good activity to do, to stimulate some self-love.
This is such a lovely idea! You’re right that Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples and we can take the time to show ourselves self-love. I downloaded the printable so I can follow along each day.
Ah, that’s great to hear, Karalee, I’m so happy you’re going to do the 14 day challenge!
