Nurturing my skin with Skinirvana Pure Bliss Beauty Oil *

11th September 2018      Lisa      30 Comments

AD – GIFTED | Beauty oils are something of a new regime for me.  Having suffered with spots galore over the years, I’ve never understood how putting more oil on my skin could help.  But following a good experience with some essential oils a few months ago, I was really excited to trial a Skinirvana Pure Bliss Beauty Oil*.  So, how did I get on?

Skinirvana

Shortly after suffering a severe reaction to a commercial skincare brand, Mary Rose Lobo decided to create her own products.  Essential oils from plants were the obvious choice because they mimic the skin’s natural pH level.  After years of making her facial oils for friends and family, Skinirvana was born.  Her beauty oils are now used daily in her facial salons and sold online too.

Pure Bliss Beauty Oils

Skinirvana offers two beauty oils, an Original oil and a Delicate oil.  Both oils are free from preservatives, perfume and parabens, 100% vegan, and cruelty free.  They each contain over 95% highest grade organic oils for the ideal absorption versus moisture retention rate.  Mary recommends using them in place of your normal daily morning and evening moisturisers, so you don’t need to use any other products.  With a shelf life of 12 months from date of opening, the oils should be stored in a cool place, away from direct sunlight to preserve their integrity.

To be on the safe side, I opted to try the Delicate oil, erring on the side of caution.  One of my clients is an essential oils wellness advocate client so I know a little about essential oils.  And I’ve learned Geranium, Lavender and Neroli have traditional and highly effective skincare benefits.  Skinirvana Pure Bliss Delicate rebalances and relaxes the skin with with a gentler concentration than the Original.  Mary says the Delicate version is safe for pregnant ladies, nursing mothers or those with sensitive or fragile skin.  And, another bonus, it’s safe to use on children over six months of age too, so could be used in baby massage.

Skinirvana Beauty Oil Delicate Ingredients and Benefits

  • Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) kernel oil*
  • Rosa canina (Rosehip) fruit oil*
  • Hippophae rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) pulp oil
  • Citrus aurantium (Neroli) flower oil
  • Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) flower oil
  • Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium) flower oil*
  • Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Citral, Geraniol, Farnesol, Linalool, Limonene, Citronellol

How to use Skinirvana Beauty Oil Delicate

If, like me, you’ve always thought putting oil on top of oily skin was a no-no, then you should know that pure, organic plant oils are very different.  In fact, Mary advocates an oil cleansing method, as oil treats oil.  So, you can use a 100% pure oil such as grapeseed or camellia to cleanse your skin and remove daily dirt and grease from make-up.

Once you’ve cleansed your face, pop five or six drops of the Skinirvana beauty oil in your palm.  Warm them between your hands and apply from neck to forehead, working upwards and outwards in firm, sweeping strokes.  With the pads of your ring fingers, trace around the eye sockets both clockwise and anti-clockwise to treat the delicate eye area.  (Any closer to the eye could cause irritation).  Wait until the oil is fully absorbed before applying make-up.  You should always wear sunscreen if going out as citrus essential oils, in particular, can cause adverse skin reactions in sunlight.  (Mary’s Instagram has some more great tips on how to get the best from her oils too) .

The Delicate oil has a lovely slightly floral scent and feels very luxurious.  I’ve been applying a few drops on my décolletage as well (taking my mother’s advice to avoid a crepy neck area).  It doesn’t sink in very quickly on my face though, and I don’t have time to wait for it to do so before applying my make up in the mornings.  Because of this, I’ve only been using it at night, after my exfoliating toner, so it can get to work repairing and rejuvenating my skin while I sleep.

Does Skinirvana Beauty Oil Delicate work?

I always like to test a new skincare product for at least three weeks, to give my skin time to show any potential benefits or side effects.  I’ve been using the Delicate oil for four weeks now and one of those weeks was on holiday in Cornwall – featuring wind, sea spray, and the (sadly only occasional appearance of the) sun.

In all honestly, this oil has been a pleasure to use, my skin positively sucks it up each night and looks refreshed, plumped up, and glowing each morning.  Now I’m back at work (and resisting putting the central heating on) my skin is still bright, clear and even.  And it’s worked wonders on my gardener’s red cheeks too, to the point where I don’t feel I need to smother them in a colour correcting primer any more.

Skinirvana Beauty Oil Delicate – worth it?

Skinirvana’s beauty oils are for use on facial skin but I’ve also used a little on my frazzled hair a couple of times, ahead of a haircut.  It worked brilliantly on my dry ends, they looked instantly glossier 🙂  In the longer term though, I’m going to keep using the oil on my face because I have to say I’m really delighted with how well the Delicate formula has performed.  I really can see a noticeable difference in my skin tone and clarity, and I love that I’m using something pure, organic, vegan, and cruelty free too.

Depending on how much and how often you use the oil, with daily application, a 30ml bottle could last anywhere between six weeks to three months.  Well, I’ve been using mine every night for just under four weeks and, as you can see, I still have A LOT left!

Skinirvana Beauty Oils – where to buy

At the time of writing, the both the Original Beauty Oil* and the Delicate Beauty Oil* retail at £40.00 on Amazon.  Which I think is excellent value, when you consider what you’re getting and how long the oil is likely to last you.  Our skins are exposed daily to so many environmental toxins, never mind the anti-aging process that comes to us in due course.  I’ve always believed that my skin and hair are worth investing in.  I wear them both every day after all, so why not take the best possible care of them?  I’d like to say a big thank you to Mary for sending me the Delicate oil (and vegan violet cream chocolate!) to try.  I’ve loved (and am still loving) using my Skinirvana oil – I really think it might just be skin heaven on earth.

I love the fact there are so many different things you can use this for – your own skin, your hair, baby massages. That alone justifies the price tag for me! I don’t tend to use oil because I don’t like how it feels on my skin, but I’d maybe consider it for my hair. Great review and your photos are gorgeous, Lisa! 🙂 xx

Thank you so much, Ruth! I know what you mean about the way oils feel on your skin (which is why I never use tanning oils) but this one feels completely different. I think it’s because essential oils are organic and natural, they feel soooo good! Xx

I’ve never bought a facial oil before as I have no idea what product to go for. Skinirvana sound like a great brand and the packaging is so pretty & stylish. I love that a small bottle can potentially last up to 3 months. That’s amazing value for money for such a high quality natural & organic oil. Like you say, your skin is well worth investing in and it’s good that you can also use it on hair too! This is a fantastic review Lisa with gorgeous photos, I would definitely consider adding a facial oil into my daily routine after reading this. I might even treat myself when I’m next shopping. Thank you for sharing! <3 xx

Facial oils are fairly new to me too but this really is a good one, my skin has reacted so well to it, and I still have lots left, yay! Although it’s primarily for use on your face, I love that it’s a multi-use product too, especially for baby massage. I would have loved to use this on Flora when she was younger but there’s no chance she’d sit still for long enough now, haha. Let me know what you think if you do treat yourself too! xxx

I love an oil! Since switching up my skincare routine completely (and not stripping my poor skin), oils have firmly cemented themselves as one of my favourite ways to nourish my skin, and I can only imagine that come the winter it’ll be even nicer after a day in the cold and central heating!

OMG, yes, I think this oil will be sooooooo good once the central heating goes on, in one way I can’t wait for winter even though I’m a summer girl! So glad oils work well for you too, I’d never go back to not using them now 🙂 xx

It’s great that this works so well for you! I love facial oils and my natural flake face wouldn’t know what to do without them now. I always find that when I have multipurpose products I only end up using them for one thing so it’s good to know you get plenty of use out of it for different things x

Ooh this sounds really nice. I never really think to put oils on, worried they’d make me oily.. but maybe my dry skin would benefit from them. The price puts me off a little, but I guess since you don’t need much it would last a long time. Maybe I will try introducing oils into my beauty regime some time. ♥

Actually, that’s why I didn’t try oils for ages, I was worried about adding too much on my skin, but this one is so lovely and organic that it sinks in beautifully. It’s also very healing, which is a bonus. And yes, it might seem a lot up front but it lasts for ages so it works out as pennies per diem really. Do let me know if you decide to try some! xx
