Lay the Foundations for Year-Round Comfort

Before you get started, it’s important to have the right foundations – no matter the season. From your walls to home flooring, there are plenty of design elements that are more permanent than others.

Neutrals are a great choice when it comes to your walls. Try to stick to creams, beige and whites, making it easy to mix and match your soft furnishings and accessories. When it comes to your floors, go for durable and easy-to-clean materials. Hybrid flooring and luxury vinyl plank are great options, coming in a range of finishes to suit any home. Plus, they’re super easy to maintain – perfect for those high-traffic areas.

How To Do a Seasonal Refresh

With your foundations sorted, it’s time to move onto the fun part – decorating! Here are some ways you can update your home, depending on the season.

Embrace Spring with Fresh Hues

Spring is a beautiful time of year, with the temperatures warming up, and the fresh, crisp air. Adding some floral patterns, pastels and lightweight fabrics is the perfect way to capture the vibe of Spring, bringing that airy feeling into your home.

Start by swapping out your heavier Winter drapes with sheer curtains to let the breeze and light in. With the temperatures warming up, it’s also a good time to switch your flannelette sheets to bamboo or cotton. You can also add potted plants and fresh flowers to add pops of colour and Spring vibes throughout your home.

Create a Breezy Oasis for Summer

Turn your home into a Summer oasis to escape the heat and enjoy those warm-weather parties with some simple seasonal updates. While Spring is all about the pastels, bright, bold colours (like yellows, blues, and even pinks and reds) will help bring Summer into your home. Nautical colours, patterns and accessories are also popular during the summer months to achieve that ‘Hampton’s Summer house’ look.

A Summer seasonal refresh is also a good chance to swap to more breathable, hot-weather friendly materials, like linen and cotton. You can even swap leather furniture out for wicker or rattan for cooler relaxation spaces that help you catch those beautiful afternoon Summer breezes.

Cosy Up for Autumn Comfort

Autumn is the perfect time to create your own cosy cottage vibes at home. Try earthier tones, like burnt orange and browns, while throwing in some more comfortable accents, like plaid throws and rustic wood pieces. Natural materials and tones help bring that warm, homey feeling into your bedroom, living room, office, kitchen or any other room.

Some smaller touches, like Autumn decor and accessories, can also make a big difference. Think dried foliage, candles, wooden candle sticks and other rustic decor pieces to create a welcoming, snug space. Those small changes can have the biggest impact if you feel like your Autumn interior is missing something.

Winter Wonderland Home Makeover

Transforming your home into a Winter wonderland can help bring some of that cold-weather magic indoors, while giving you a warm, cosy retreat to escape the chill. A good way to get that balance is to combine metallic accents (for a touch of holiday sparkle) with rich fabrics, like velvet, faux fur and wool, to add that warmth to this seasonal refresh.

Lighting is also a good way to set the mood during the Winter months. Try candles and fairy lights, which can help add some comfort to the typically starker natural lighting throughout Winter. You can also switch your cool-tone light bulbs for warm-toned bulbs for a more snuggly feeling indoors.

Create a Living Canvas with Your Seasonal Home

Updating your home decor seasonally can help keep your home looking and feeling fresh and exciting. While you can take inspiration from each season, it’s important to also add in touches of your own personality and style to ensure it feels like home. That way, you get the perfect blend of seasonal flair that reflects your own personality all year round.

What are your favourite ways to add a seasonal refresh to your home? Are there any tips you’d like to share?

🌈 Our beloved hobo has taken his last journey. Yes 🌈 Our beloved hobo has taken his last journey. Yesterday evening we had to say farewell to Ginger at nearly 21 years old.

13 years ago he wandered into our greenhouse and decided ours was his new home. So many memories:

😻 He saw us through Buzz, Lily, and Jester, and the arrivals of Spooky, Loki, and Lyra.
😻 Always the most chilled cat, not interested in fighting any other cats, ours or visitors.
😻 Greediest cat ever, not even willing to share with the resident hedgehogs. He could hear the sound of someone walking into the kitchen from 5 miles away.
😻 An inveterate bin diver – our neighbours got used to seeing their recycling spread across the road after he’d gone searching for food.
😻 Always commandeering the warmest spot in the garden or house.
😻 Putting up with Spooky always seeking him out and snuggling up with him.
😻Somehow generating more heat than a volcano, so we could never tolerate him on our laps for more than 10 minutes, we’d have to move him next to us instead.
😻 Always knowing when any of us needed comfort or company and snuggling up to offer purring support.

RIP, Ginger, thank you for choosing us, we were privileged to have you as part of our family, and you leave the biggest hole in all our hearts. 😿
